Gwithian Beach Chalet: Oystercatcher

Oystercatcher sits behind the dunes that lie along one of the UK’s most spectacular golden beaches. Its enchanting yet simple, the charm perhaps that it is just a ‘beach house’ decorated with care and attention.

We think you will enjoy the original art on the wall, designer cushions and throws on the sofa and chairs, and local pottery and ceramics in the cupboards.

Light floods the open plan sitting room, kitchen and dining area from every direction. To the front the patio doors lead on to the deck while two side windows look towards the dunes and in the Kitchen area at the back a window looks north.

But there’s all the practical stuff too, toaster, microwave, smeg fridge with freezer compartment, cooker with grill and over, caftier, teapot, wifi, TV, DVD player, radio with ipod doc. Outside there’s a deck with tables and chairs, and a safe family environment for young children to explore. Within a few yards there are hundreds of paths between the dunes and the beach where  dogs and kids can run around.

The kitchen is stocked full of utensils for cooking (pots, pans, dishes, bowls) there’s a kettle, microwave, toaster, cooker with hob, Smeg fridge with freezer compartment inside, kitchen scales  & hand mixer for those guests who enjoy culinary exploits. There are place settings (cutlery, plates, cups and saucer, mugs, bows) for four people and a dinning table with four chairs.

The sitting room has a huge relaxing sofa, with masses of cushions and throws to comfort and exhausted body, there is also an armchair, TV with DVD, (and a massive collection of DVD’s), and complimentary Wifi.

In the bathroom there is an electric shower, electric towel rail with thermostat and control, toilet and sink, and a small cabinet with mirror, and we’ll leave a bath mat.

There’s also an airing cupboard with hanging space, ironing board (iron is in the kitchen cupboard) and vacuum cleaner

Oystercatcher has two bedrooms, a double bedroom at the front with two windows that catch the morning sun, it has a chest of drawers and mirror.

The second bedroom has twin beds, a chest of drawers and window that catches the evening sun.

Both bedrooms have bedside tables and table lights and each also has a large chest of draws

Its a fairly low maintenance place, the type of place you can kick your shoes off and walk to the surf (which we do all the time) a mere 15-20 minute walk to the beach through the dunes. It is wonderful for morning jogs and runs through the dunes and along the beach, but there are heaps of other activities nearby including bouldering, kayaking, kite surfing, horse riding, and cycling.
